ŠElizabeth Buttler

Elizabeth, her animatin’ husband and their sax-playin’ son landed in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts about 10 years ago, after having traveled all over Robin Hood’s barn following the commercial and entertainment animation job market. They  worked on projects such as “The Penny Cartoon” for PeeWee’s Playhouse, Gumby, Wallace and Gromit, many commercials and had their own studio called Sculptoons in San Francisco.  Elizabeth started producing random illustrations from nursery rhymes and old folk songs (in addition to her storyboarding work, character design, puppet and set fabrication) to give as gifts when her friends started having babies.  After having her own baby, she decided to stick closer to home and put her energy into freelance illustration.  Now she does both. Her husband is still making animated films and their son draws and plays a mean sax.
For her 2D illustration she works in scratchboard, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pastel, and digitally.  For her 3D character models, animation puppets and set design work she uses everything including the kitchen sink.
